The Ankh is a symbol from Ancient Kemet (modern day Egypt), North Africa. It was used by our ancestors to symbolize life creation and eternity. Ankhs made of precious metals were found in tombs of ancient pharoahs. They were also featured and in ancient Kemetic artwork.
The RBG Ankh Necklace features a beautiful 1.5 inch solid brass Ankh pendant finished in either faux black onyx or 18 karat gold plate. It also features red, black and green cubic stones, which are a tribute to the red, black and green colors of the Pan African Flag created by Marcus Garvey.
At Marcus Garvey's 1920 Convention of the Universal Negro Improvement Association (UNIA), the delegates, which included representatives from 25 African countries formally agreed that “… that the colors Red, Black and Green be the colors of the African race.”
This powerful pendant is the merging of our Ancient Kemetic wisdom of thousands of years ago and the fire and spirit of Marcus Garvey’s movement of the early 20th century. Whether you adorn yourself in the midnight black or the 18k gold plated necklace you will be harnessing the power of Black people from ancient to modern times. Wear it proudly!
